‘What’s a Gotcha Day?’ you may ask. A Gotcha Day marks the date that a rescue dog was welcomed into their forever home. The age and birthday of most rescue dogs are unknown. Therefore, many owners choose to celebrate their beloved pointy faced friends Gotcha Day instead. We wouldn’t want them to miss out on their special day now would we!
Bella had such a wonderful Gotcha day last year. She even had her very own home baked cake to share with her best friend Nellie. The cakes recipe was recommended to us by one of our lovely Facebook followers. The girls were so excited to have such a special treat, I thought I would in turn, share the quick and easy recipe with you. It’s Nellie’s very first Gotcha Day on Saturday so I could do with recapping the recipe myself.
Celebrating Bella's 2nd Gotcha Day and 8th(ish) Birthday.
Dog Birthday or Gotcha Day Cake Recipe:
1 x mug of plain flour
1 x tablespoon baking powder
2 x large eggs
1 x 425g tin of pilchards in tomato sauce
Mix the ingredients together and bake for around 35 minutes at 180 degrees. Allow the cake to cool and decorate it with low fat cream cheese and dog treats. I decorated Bella's with Luv Heart treats available here -> Luv Hearts.
